Labs, Coleman Announce Nearly $2 Million for Community Projects

HARRISBURG – Rep. Shelby Labs (R-Bucks) and Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-Bucks/Lehigh) today announced nearly $2 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants for public safety, infrastructure and community improvement projects throughout the area.

The grants include:
• $900,000 for Silverdale Borough, on behalf of Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company, toward the purchase of a new fire engine. The new apparatus will replace a 25-year-old engine that has become increasingly unreliable and difficult to maintain. The new engine will include improved maneuverability, greater pumping capacity, enhanced warning and scene lighting systems and additional safety features.
• $541,851 for Sellersville Borough for the first phase of improvements to Druckenmiller Playground. The project will replace aging playground equipment with new ADA-compliant equipment and renovate the existing restroom facilities.
• $149,939 for Perkasie Borough, on behalf of Revivals Outreach Center, to purchase and equip a food truck. The vehicle will allow Revivals to expand its food rescue and meal programs to residents who may have difficulty reaching its current location.
• $139,798 for Bedminster Township to establish a police drone search and rescue program. The project includes two drones, a specially equipped patrol vehicle, real-time visual monitoring equipment and a portable generator to assist officers with searches, investigations and emergency response.
• $128,392 for the Hilltown Township Water and Sewer Authority to replace a malfunctioning influent screen at the Highland Park Wastewater Treatment Plant. The new equipment will improve treatment efficiency and reduce maintenance demands.
• $91,759 for the Bucks County Industrial Development Authority (BCIDA), on behalf of the Bucks County Housing Development Corporation, for parking lot improvements at two affordable senior housing communities in Bucks County.

“These grants address real needs throughout our community,” said Labs. “They will help replace aging equipment, strengthen emergency response, improve public spaces and make important infrastructure upgrades. I am grateful to work with Sen. Coleman and our local partners to secure this funding and move these projects forward.”

The LSA program distributes gaming revenue to economic development projects. LSA funds are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
